MOUTHGUARD INFORMATION

Mouthguards, also known as nightguards or occlusal splints, are the first line of defence against further wearing of the teeth and the production of grinding noises while sleeping.

A mouthguard is one of the most effective therapies for reducing the stress caused by clenching and grinding of the teeth. It assists in the prevention of painful jaw muscles and joints.

Custom mouth guards, which are tailored to a person's bite, offer a more pleasant and effective option. Store-bought generic nightguards that are not made to order may prove uncomfortable or even painful to wear. Furthermore, non-customized night guards can exacerbate occlusal difficulties by causing teeth to shift beneath the gums, resulting in gaps between the teeth. These nightguards seem to lessen the severity of clenching, but they may not have any real long-term impact on the reduction of clenching frequency during the night.

In rare situations, occlusal splints may restrict the passage of breath during sleep in people with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). If you have OSA, you will need to take extra precautions when designing your splint. A mandibular advancement device, which can help with both OSA and bruxism, may be beneficial for people with OSA.

SUPPLEMENTS

Magnesium

Anxiety, irritability, sleeplessness, restlessness, and hyperactivity are all symptoms of magnesium deficiency. Daily intake of high-quality chelated magnesium may help to alleviate these symptoms and minimize clenching and grinding. Magnesium supplements can also help with migraines, constipation, and muscle cramps.

Vitamin C

Stress management is an important consideration for many people suffering from bruxism. Vitamin C may help to manage stress by supporting the adrenal glands, which control our stress reactions. Vitamin C is also required for the production of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that helps to regulate mood and prevent sickness. Since illness is another possible cause of bruxism, there may be some wisdom in prevention

B-Complex
Vitamins

B-vitamin deficiency can cause mental tension, depression, and anxiety. The benefits of taking a B-complex supplement have been proven in terms of overall health and well-being. You set yourself up for success by starting the day with a balanced state of mind.

Valerian
Root Extract

Valerian root has been used as a natural sedative for generations. It contains components that help to reduce anxiety and has been demonstrated to increase sleep quality without any negative side effects. Valerian root may also help with bruxism, which is a sleep-related movement problem.

During sleep, whenever your jaw tenses up, pressure will be applied to the capsule, which will release a small amount of medicine to relax the jaw.

Take out the mouthguard in the morning, rinse it, and place it back into the container for storage during the day.
